Project Officer, Genomic Data Commons,
NCI
Dr. Sturgill is a computational biologist with the National Cancer Institute and the Project Officer for the Genomic Data Commons (GDC). The GDC houses the largest integrated and harmonized multi-omic cancer database, with data from more than 44 thousand cases, including TCGA and other projects. In his time pursuing intramural research at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Sturgill has contributed to the Drosophila 12 genomes project, the ENCODE/modENCODE projects, and has been at the forefront of methods development for RNA sequencing analysis and RNA modification detection. His current interests are in harnessing diverse omics datasets to facilitate new discoveries about cancer biology and treatment.
