Fengbo Ren
Dr. Fengbo Ren is the Founder and CEO of Fovus, an AI-powered, serverless HPC platform for life sciences teams running scientific pipelines in production. Fovus helps genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, and drug discovery teams overcome major compute bottlenecks, including GPU availability, cloud cost, runtime efficiency, and failed jobs.
Under Dr. Ren’s leadership, Fovus uses benchmarking-driven compute orchestration to dynamically match workloads to the right cloud resources while enabling massive parallelization and Spot Instance scaling. Its intelligent checkpointing helps preserve memory and execution state, allowing workloads to recover from interruptions instead of restarting from scratch.
Before founding Fovus, Dr. Ren was an Associate Professor at Arizona State University, where he led research in scalable, energy-efficient computing systems for AI and data-intensive scientific workloads. He holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UCLA and has received the Google Faculty Research Award and NSF CAREER Award.
