Gita Pathak
Dr. Gita Pathak is a tenure‑track Assistant Professor with joint appointments in the Institute for Genomic Health and the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She directs the Genomics of Aging and Psychiatry spectrum (GAPsLab), a computational biology research group dedicated to understanding how psychiatric disorders influence aging and the development of age‑related diseases. Her lab integrates multi‑omic data, epigenomics, genomics, and electronic health records to uncover biological mechanisms that connect mental health, neurodegeneration, and chronic disease. GAPsLab is supported by the Alzheimer’s Association Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and the NIA K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award.
Dr. Pathak also plays a leadership role in global genomics collaborations, serving as Co‑Chair of both the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) Functional Genomics EWAS Group and the Latin American Genomics Consortium (LAGC) Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Group. Through these efforts, she helps advance international research on psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
