Lead for Semantic Data Products , Bristol Myers Squibb

As Director of Translational Medicine and Semantic Data Products at Bristol Myers Squibb, I lead initiatives that harness bioinformatics and AI to advance data-driven decision-making in precision medicine and translational research.

I am a biologist turned data scientist turned strategic advisor. My career has been built around a fundamental observation: data—and the insights and ideas derived from it—are the critical raw material driving a company's operating system. The expertise I've developed in deep learning, knowledge graphs, query federation, and generative AI helps me empower data teams in life sciences and healthcare ventures to build solutions that go beyond incremental advances. This has allowed me to deliver breakthrough innovations for my stakeholders that advance target identification, drug creation, biomarker discovery, and cohort identification.

Driven by a 20+ year passion for leveraging math, web science, and deep learning for meaningful change, I'm committed to fostering a culture where innovation thrives while addressing some of the most complex operational challenges in our industry. My dedication to advancing the field is also reflected in my extensive contributions, including 50+ peer-reviewed publications and leadership in the creation and dissemination of W3C standards.

Ultimately, my two decades of experience, refined by lessons from navigating challenging environments (as part of a sailing crew), confirm my conviction that progress thrives on trust, kindness, and open communication. This philosophy underpins my commitment to fostering a culture where teams are empowered to integrate internal company knowledge with broad external insights. By proactively removing barriers to data access, establishing clear auditing, governance, and lineage, and championing transparency, I ensure data consistently drives the right decisions, even in the most complex situations.
