Julia Fox, PhD has 25+ years of experience in scientific and clinical semantics, ontologies and standards. Julia has led industry efforts to augment digital capabilities that streamline unified data capture, storage, analysis and accessibility. Julia implements integrated data platforms to leverage standards and semantics in data acquisition, alignment, harmonization and validation. 

Julia completed her PhD at Brown University in Cell and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with a thesis in Fruit fly developmental genetics. Julia has been a Molecular Curator for FlyBase, and then led efforts in phenotypic cell-based screening, systematic data acquisition and analysis. Julia drives adoption of digital ‘readiness’ by implementing ontology-driven NER and NLP data curation and annotation approaches facilitating ‘analytics and AI ready’ data management. A semantic approach to Metadata management delivers ‘machine learnable’ understanding of scientific and medical context, an essential component for AI. 

Outside of work Julia is a horsewoman who appreciates music and literature, collects rescue animals, and enjoys cooking for her family & friends.
