Junyue Cao
Assistant Professor,
The Rockefeller University
Dr. Cao’s background spans aging, neurodegeneration, and genome sciences, with specific expertise in the development of impactful single-cell genomic and perturbation methodologies. He has invented the single-cell combinatorial indexing-based RNA-seq (sci-RNA-seq), which led to the creation of the first catalog capturing the single-cell transcriptional landscape of an entire organism. Additionally, he has developed scalable single-cell multi-omics techniques to co-profile transcriptomes and epigenetics at single cells and a novel method for profiling single-cell transcriptome dynamics. In August 2020, He started my independent lab as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Laboratory for Single Cell Genomics at Rockefeller University. His research program at Rockefeller aims to develop state-of-the-art genomic techniques to profile and perturb cell dynamics at single-cell resolution and dissect its connection with internal transcriptome state and external cell-cell interactions. The central goal of his lab is to leverage this knowledge to develop cell-type-specific manipulation tools to enhance cell population robustness or restore cell population homeostasis in brain aging and AD.
