Lindsay Rizzardi
Dr. Rizzardi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), with extensive training in gene regulation, epigenetics, and neurodegenerative diseases.
She obtained her PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill and completed her post-doctoral training at Johns Hopkins. As a Senior Scientist at HudsonAlpha, she led a team using single-cell multiomics to identify Alzheimer’s-specific regulatory elements, highlighting transcription factors like ZEB1 as potential therapeutic targets.
At UAB, her current research aims to determine how genetic variation contributes to AD risk through dysregulation of gene expression and splicing in individual cell types, providing insights into disease mechanisms.
