Associate Professor , Massachusetts General Hospital

Luca Pinello is an Associate Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and an Associate Member of the Broad Institute. His computational biology lab focuses on understanding gene regulation through the integration of multi-omics and single-cell data.

Dr. Pinello has made significant contributions to the CRISPR genome editing field, developing widely-used tools including CRISPResso for analyzing editing outcomes, and conducting pioneering screens of non-coding regions with translational impact for genetic diseases. His lab develops innovative computational methods for single-cell genomics, including STREAM for trajectory analysis and SIMBA for multimodal data integration.

More recently, his work on DNA-Diffusion has pioneered the application of generative AI to design synthetic regulatory DNA sequences with cell-type specificity.
