Dr. Zhandong Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine. Holding the prestigious Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Endowed Chair, Dr. Liu also serves as the Chief of Computational Science at Texas Children's Hospital and is a key member of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Genomics and Computational Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 under the mentorship of Dr. Lewis A. Chodosh and Dr. Hongzhe Li, Dr. Liu joined the Neurological Research Institute at Baylor College of Medicine. There, he established his own lab, focusing on the development of bioinformatics methods to analyze high-throughput biological data generated from RNA-seq and genomic sequencing. Dr. Liu's work involves the integration of various data types to advance our understanding of neurological diseases. Recently, his team made significant strides by creating an artificial intelligence-based genetic diagnosis tool for undiagnosed and rare genetic diseases, demonstrating his commitment to innovation in the field of rare disease research.
