Sophie Trefely completed her undergraduate and PhD training in Australia earning a BMedSci(Hons) at UNSW in 2008 and her PhD training studying insulin action in the lab of David James at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in 2015. Her post-doctoral research was at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) focussed on metabolite signalling and metabolomics and was jointly between the labs of Kathryn Wellen and Nathaniel Snyder. She established her research group at the Babraham Institute (UK) in January 2022 as part of the Epigenetics and Signalling Programmes. Her lab investigates metabolic regulation of the nucleus with the goal of understanding how nutrients affect chromatin modification and implications in dietary/nutrient responses, cell identity and metabolic disease.
