Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute

Giorgia Battistoni is a postdoctoral research associate in the laboratory of Prof. Greg Hannon at the CRUK-CI, University of Cambridge (UK). Her core interest is technology development, using molecular biology to generate new tools for genomics and epigenomics. Giorgia obtained a BSc and MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (IT) in 2013, and a PhD in Biological Sciences from CSHL School of Biological Sciences (Cold Spring Harbor, NY, USA) in 2019. From 2014, she relocated with the Hannon laboratory in Cambridge. During her postdoctoral appointment, she works with a multi-disciplinary team to develop new methods for spatial profiling of gene expression and regulation in intact tissues. Giorgia applies these methods to investigate the role of spatially concerted gene regulation in embryonic development and metastatic progression in cancer. In addition to this, she leads a collaborative effort on establishing a streamlined pipeline to generate camelid nanobodies via Machine Learning guided design.
