Angela Hamblin studied medicine in Oxford and undertook a PhD with Professor Peter Johnson in T cell immunotherapy in Southampton. She completed haematology training in Oxford including an extended period of research with Professor Anna Schuh where she focussed on the translation of NGS assays into routine clinical practice. Upon becoming a consultant in Oxford in 2016 she started working for Genomics England where she oversaw aspects of the 100,000 Genomes project relevant to haematology as well working on the development of the National Genomic Test Directory for Cancer and the implementation of Whole Genome Sequencing within the new Genomic Medicine Service. She is currently medical lead for haematological malignancies for the Central & South Genomic Laboratory Hub, co-chairs the Cancer Test Directory Evaluation Working Group and NHS Genomics Unit's Haemato-oncology Working Group. She also co-leads the Genomics Unit's Haemato-oncology Network of Excellence and is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Translational Genomics for the Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre
