Paul is a Cytogeneticist at the Institute of Medical Genetics of the Medical University of Vienna. Coming from a background of test-development during his time as a PhD student, he started out his career by establishing a genetics department at a private laboratory in Vienna, focused on pregnancy and fertility-associated molecular tests.
Since 2019, he works at the Medical University of Vienna in routine genetic diagnostics, besides establishing one of Europe's first optical genome mapping (OGM) platforms. Since then, the Institute of Medical Genetics holds a leading role in OGM by continuously collecting data, samples and exploring possible applications of this technology, with all efforts aimed at improving the quality of rountine genetic diagnostics.
