Christian Gilissen
Professor of Genome Bioinformatics
Radboud University Medical Center

Christian Gilissen studied computer sciences at the Radboud University Nijmegen after which he obtained his PhD at the department of Human genetics of the Radboud University Medical Hospital in Nijmegen on the identification of novel disease genes through Next Generation Sequencing. Dr. Gilissen works on the development and application of computational methods for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, the interpretation of genome variation and the identification of genetic causes of rare diseases and intellectual disability. In addition he has used computational methods to biology of de novo mutations in humans. His work was published in various high-ranking genetics journals such as Nature, Nature Genetics and Nature neuroscience. Dr. Gilissen received awards from both the Dutch and European societies of Human genetics. He is currently Professor in Genome Bioinformatics and Head of Bioinformatics for the Genome Diagnostics Division of Radboud University Medical Center.
