Dr. Thomas Geiger is the Managing Director of the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) since 2021. SPHN is a government-sponsored initiative to establish a scalable and sustainable data infrastructure for Switzerland, enabling researchers to access, integrate, analyse and share interoperable health data. Trained as a molecular biologist at the University of Basel, he obtained his PhD from the Netherlands Cancer Institute / University of Amsterdam in 2008 and did subsequent postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, USA. In 2014, he joined the European Thoracic Oncology Platform to coordinate translational Biobanking and research projects for a multinational lung cancer research network. From 2017-2020 he managed “Personalized Health Basel”, a project of the university and university hospitals of Basel.
