Registering as a pharmacist in 2004, Sophie has practiced within oncology since 2007 at Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC), Cardiff. In 2020, she co-led a DYPD implementation pilot project alongside medical colleagues which was rolled out across Wales by the AWMGS, and won a MediWales award. Sophie was the only pharmacist Genomics Champion in Wales and co-led on the set up of the National Pharmacogenomics Group (NPGG) in Wales. Sophie was the pharmacogenomics lead for GB at the RPS where she led on the development of policy and advocacy for the role of pharmacy in pharmacogenomics and developed educational resources. Sophie is currently the clinical lead for pharmacogenomics at HEIW working collaboratively to develop a genomics workforce plan for Wales and is an active researcher at Swansea University.
