Alejandro Brenes
Postdoctoral Researcher
University of Edinburgh

Alejandro graduated from his PhD at the University of Dundee in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Cantrell and Prof. Lamond. His work focussed on using large-scale proteomics and computational biology to characterise the murine and human immune system, with a focus on murine T cells and human neutrophils. This led him to create the Immunological Proteome Resource (immpres.co.uk). In 2024 Alejandro started working as a postdoctoral computational biologist within the Walmsley Group at the Centre for Inflammation Research, part of the University of Edinburgh. His research is now focussed on the proteomic characterisation of human granulocytes by leveraging mini-bulk and single cell proteomic workflows with the aim to define their functional heterogeneity, functional capacities and phenotypes in both homeostasis and chronic inflammatory disease.
