Sam is a GP in North-West England, NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in the Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research at the University of Manchester, and Associate Editor of the British Journal of General Practice. His main research interests are the early detection and prevention of cancer in primary care and the evaluation and implementation of new diagnostic tests. Sam has conducted research into the integration of genetic and genomic cancer risk information into risk stratification in primary care to improve early cancer detection, published in the British Journal of Cancer and the European Journal of Human Genetics. Sam has served as a member of expert reference groups for NICE, NHS England, Prostate Cancer UK, Movember, the National Institute for Health and Care Research, and the National Cancer Research Institute.
