Manuel Corpas
Lecturer in Genomics
University of Westminster

As a distinguished bioinformatician with a profound passion for genomics and its revolutionary applications in personalised medicine, Manuel has dedicated his career to bridging the gap between raw genomic data and actionable clinical insights. His academic journey began at the University of Navarra, where he received his degree in Biomedical Sciences. He then pursued a Master's degree and a PhD in Bioinformatics at the University of Manchester, complemented by 3.5 years of postdoctoral experience at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in Cambridge, UK. Currently, he serves as a Lecturer of Genomics at the University of Westminster, where he guides and inspires the next generation of genomic scientists. In parallel, as Chief Scientist and Founder of Cambridge Precision Medicine, he leads efforts to develop computational methodologies that enhance our understanding of human genomes. The pinnacle of his journey so far has been his recent appointment as a Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence. This fellowship represents not only a recognition of his contributions to the field but also an opportunity to collaborate with leading minds in technology and data science. It is a platform through which he aims to further his research, contribute to the advancement of AI and genomics, and make a lasting impact on personalised medicine. Through his work, he strives to create a future where healthcare is more precise, tailored, and accessible. He is driven by the belief that through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to open science, we can unlock the full potential of genomics for the benefit of all.
