Alessandra Devoto
Alessandra Devoto is Professor of Molecular Plant Biology at Royal Holloway, University of London, where her research focuses on understanding how plants respond to environmental stress and regulate the balance between growth and defence.
Her work explores the molecular and regulatory networks underlying plant stress responses, with a particular emphasis on jasmonate signalling, epigenetic regulation and stress memory. Combining experimental and computational approaches, her research aims to inform the development of crops with improved environmental stress tolerance without compromising growth or productivity.
Alongside her research into plant resilience, she has developed biotechnology applications in health and energy production. She is also a Visiting Scientist at RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science (CSRS), Yokohama, Japan, and Visiting Professor at Sapienza University of Rome.
