Alex Clipson
Deputy Team Lead,
Cancer Research UK Manchester
Alex Clipson is Deputy Team Lead within the Nucleic Acids Biomarkers team at the Cancer Research UK National Biomarker Centre. Her research focuses on developing and translating liquid biopsy approaches, with particular expertise in circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA), DNA methylation and cancer biomarkers. Alex has contributed to research demonstrating the potential of genome-wide cfDNA methylation profiling for cancer detection, tissue-of-origin prediction and molecular subtyping, including in small-cell lung cancer. Her work aims to harness epigenetic signals in blood to improve cancer classification and enable more precise, minimally invasive approaches to diagnosis and patient stratification.
