Amaia Vilas Zorno

Amaia is Senior Director of Molecular Profiling and Sequencing at Relation, a drug discovery techbio. She holds a degree in Biology and Biochemistry, and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Navarra. She began her career in oncohaematological research, focusing on drug discovery and conducting both in vitro and in vivo screening of proprietary compounds targeting epigenetic mechanisms. Over the past nine years, she has specialised in single-cell, spatial transcriptomics, and sequencing technologies to advance biological and disease understanding across multiple cancer indications and rare diseases. She has also contributed to large-scale initiatives such as the B-cell Atlas project, helping to deepen insights into immune system biology. 

Since joining Relation in 2023, her role has involved operating at the intersection of internal clinical study data, machine learning platform development, and external pharmaceutical collaborations, focusing on the identification and prioritisation of novel targets across osteoporosis and other disease areas. Her work focuses on translating these insights into therapeutic opportunities with the potential to transform patients’ lives across multiple indications.
