Rare and Inherited Disease NHS Genomic Network of Excellence , Exeter Genomics Laboratory (South West GLH), Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Andy is the Head of Department at the Exeter Genomics Laboratory, the Data & Informatics Director at the South West NHS Genomic Laboratory Hub (SW GLH), Rare and Inherited Disease NHS Genomic Network of Excellence lead at the SW GLH and a Clinical Bioinformatician. Under Andy’s leadership, the Exeter Genomics Laboratory became the first NHS laboratory to establish a genome sequencing service in 2022, and is the sole provider of the national NHS rapid trio genome sequencing service for acutely unwell children in England.  

As the Data and Informatics Director of the South West Genomics Laboratory Hub, and a Clinical Bioinformatician, Andy’s work focusses on the creation, maintenance, and improvement of the pipelines and laboratory systems that allow the management of patient testing and generation of results from Next Generation Sequencing platforms within the GLH.
