Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee
Professor Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee is Head of the Department of Genetics at the University Medical Center Groningen and Professor of Personalized Medicine at the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on translating advances in genomics, multi-omics and data science into more personalized approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. She has over 25 years of experience in biomedical research, with a particular interest in pharmacogenomics, respiratory disease and biomarker-driven medicine.
Throughout her career, she has led large multidisciplinary and public-private research collaborations aimed at bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical practice. She has obtained more than €25 million in research funding and has published nearly 400 peer-reviewed papers. Alongside her scientific work, she holds several national and international leadership and advisory roles. A central theme throughout her work is connecting disciplines, technologies and people to accelerate the implementation of personalized medicine in healthcare.
