Alex Bedenkov, MD, PhD, is a seasoned biopharmaceutical executive with over 20 years of global experience spanning medical affairs, regulatory strategy, and clinical operations. Trained as a Medical Doctor with a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology, Alex has held leadership roles at country, regional, and global levels across multiple therapeutic areas. 

Since joining AstraZeneca in 2014 as Area Medical Director for Russia and Eurasia, Alex has played a pivotal role in elevating Medical Affairs function as a strategic partner. He has since served as Asia Area Medical Director and VP Medical for the International Region, and previously held senior positions at Abbott, MSD Pharmaceuticals, and Schering-Plough. 

In his current role as Vice President, Global Evidence in BioPharmaceuticals Medical, Alex oversees a diverse range of functions including Evidence Portfolio Delivery, Real-World Science and Analytics, the Real-World Data (RWD) Office, Publications, Policy Evidence, Patient-Centred Science, and Patient Engagement. Together with his team members, he is accountable for the “Evidence Powerhouse” agenda — by delivering practice-defining evidence, driving patient-centric innovation, and improving patient care through the provision of location-relevant RWD. Alex is dedicated to improving patient experiences and outcomes by making sure that the right evidence reaches the right decision-makers at the right time.
