Beverley O'Hara

Public Health Nutritionist, Leeds Beckett University

Beverley O'Hara is a Public Health Nutritionist specialising in diet quality, including 'ultra-processed' foods, health inequalities, and weight-related health. She earned her PhD in nutrition epidemiology from the University of Leeds in 2004 and now works as a lecturer at Leeds Beckett University.

She is passionate about championing evidence-based nutrition in a world where the 'nutrition zeitgeist' can too often hold undue sway over individuals and policymakers alike. A dedicated science communicator, she enjoys translating research and sharing knowledge with audiences beyond academia.

She leads the Yorkshire network for the Association for the Study of Obesity, is Deputy Chair of the UK Congress on Obesity, and a member of the Faculty of Public Health Food Special Interest Group.
