Bill Newman is Professor of Translational Genomic Medicine at the University of Manchester. He is a recognised leader in genomic medicine who influences UK services and research in rare diseases and pharmacogenetics. He is a key architect of the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine, where he and his team deliver transformational work. He leads a national implementation project on pharmacogenetics in primary care and an NHS England (NHSE) Network of Excellence. His work on understanding and preventing drug-induced hearing loss in predisposed neonates has resulted in a paradigm shift in how genomics can be used to improve healthcare.
