Dario Bressan

Head of the Spatial Profiling and Annotation Centre of Excellence (SPACE) , Cancer Research Cambridge Institute

Dario Bressan graduated in neurobiology from the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Italy, before moving to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York, where he obtained a PhD in molecular biology, working on the development of novel technologies for spatial profiling, under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Hannon. In 2014 he moved to the Cancer Research UK Institute of the University of Cambridge, UK, where he started working on the development and application of molecular profiling tools for the tumour ecosystem. He was a junior co-investigator in IMAXT, one of the first multidisciplinary projects awarded a Cancer Grand Challenge grant, focusing on the production of 3D maps of tumours. He took the role of head of the hub laboratory for the IMAXT project until 2024, when he contributed to launch the Spatial Profiling and Annotation Centre of Excellence (SPACE), a collaborative laboratory focused on democratising access and multiplying the impact of spatial omics technologies. Dario specialises in technology development (especially in genomics and microscopy) and integration between different profiling methods
