Deena Gendoo

Associate Professor in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, University of Birmingham

Dr. Deena Gendoo is an Associate Professor in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, and Program Director of Bioinformatics at the University of Birmingham, UK. Her research focuses on integrative ‘omics, AI-driven methods and machine learning, towards understanding disease mechanisms and identifying new biomarkers for cancers and other high-impact diseases.

Her lab also applies pharmacogenomics and multi-omics to identify new disease therapeutics, markers of drug response, and mechanisms behind drug resistance, to advance effective and personalised therapeutic strategies. To address these research foci, Dr. Gendoo leads different projects on the analysis of large-scale, high-throughput datasets and drug profiles, and multi-modal data integration to unveil disease biomarkers and drug signatures.
