Dr. Fengbo Ren is the founder and CEO of Fovus, an AI powered, serverless high performance computing platform on AWS built for genomics, bioinformatics, and computational drug discovery teams. His work focuses on helping scientific organizations run complex HPC tools and Nextflow pipelines faster, at lower cost, and without infrastructure overhead. Before founding Fovus, Dr. Ren served as an Associate Professor at Arizona State University, where he led research on scalable and energy efficient computing systems for AI and data intensive scientific workloads. His research informs how modern genomics and discovery pipelines can be optimized for performance, reproducibility, and cost efficiency. 

Dr. Ren holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has authored numerous influential publications. His work has been recognized with the Google Faculty Research Award and the National Science Foundation CAREER Award.With more than a decade of experience across HPC, AI, and systems, Dr. Ren brings a practitioner focused perspective to modernizing compute infrastructure for precision medicine and life sciences R&D.
