Dr Maria C Suciu

Dr Maria C. Suciu is Head of Discovery at Genomics, where she leads the Target Discovery and Validation department, providing insights from genetic data to support pharma partners. She sets the department's vision, structure and priorities for sustained impact, balancing strategic direction with empowering other leaders to deliver. She has spent more than a decade using human genetics and healthcare data to inform drug discovery across academia, biotech and pharma.

Trained in genomic medicine and statistical genetics at the University of Oxford, she moved into industry early. Between two tenures at Genomics, she spent nearly three years at the Regeneron Genetics Center in the US, leading a small team that used large-scale genetics to uncover drivers of immune disease and setting up a women's health genetics programme.

She is passionate about strong multidisciplinary team cultures, diversity in STEM, and ensuring women's voices and health needs are meaningfully represented in biomedical R&D.
