Emma Davenport is a group leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, where she studies how genetic variation shapes disease severity and treatment response. Her team generates large-scale, longitudinal multi-omics datasets and develops statistical frameworks to integrate genetic, molecular, and clinical data. They use pregnancy as a model of a dynamic, temporally structured immune perturbation. By generating longitudinal transcriptomic data across gestation, they leverage gestational age as a natural temporal anchor to model gene expression trajectories and dynamic genetic regulation over time. This provides a powerful framework to study how immune states evolve within individuals and offers a generalisable approach for analysing longitudinal immune responses.
