Farzana Rahman
Dr. Farzana Rahman is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and Course Leader of the MSc Data Science programme at Kingston University London. Her research develops machine learning, deep learning, and large language model approaches to tackle complex questions in genomics and health data science. She was recently awarded the 2025 Amazon Science Research Award for her work in AI-driven efficient architecture for genomic analysis.
Dr. Rahman is also active in computational pedagogy, integrating Wikipedia-based learning into data science education. She is a participant in the Alan Turing Institute’s Data Study Group, co-chair of the ISCB Wikipedia Committee, a founding member of the ISCB Publication Committee, and a former elected member of the ISCB Board of Directors. Dr Rahman is currently co-chairing ISMB 2026’s Tutorial committee, which is one of the largest bioinformatics and computational biology conference in the world. She additionally serves as an Associate Editor of Bioinformatics and Biology Insights.
