Gillian Reynolds

Gillian Reynolds is a Senior Bioinformatician in the Swarbreck group, where her focus is currently on the application and improvement of strategies for genome annotation as part of the Decoding Biodiversity strategic programme.
She has a strong interest in the development of bioinformatics methods, with a particular emphasis on computational efficiency and explainability.
She obtained a joint PhD in Computer Science and Plant Genetics from Montana State University, where she worked on the development of methods for polyploid crop analysis, with an emphasis on wheat. Following the completion of her PhD, she worked as an industrial bioinformatician within a biomedical start-up.
