Sophie Harding

Pharmacogenomics Lead, All Wales Medical Genomics Service
Sophie registered as a pharmacist in 2004 and has 17 years' experience within oncology services.  In 2020, Sophie co-led the implementation of DPYD testing alongside senior medical colleagues which was later rolled out across Wales by the All-Wales Medical Genomics Service (AWMGS) winning a MediWales award (2021). The first pharmacist Genomics Champion in Wales, Sophie also co-led the set-up of the National Pharmacogenomics Group (NPGG) in Wales in 2022. 

Between 2022-2023, Sophie was the Pharmacogenomics lead for Great Britain at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) leading on the development of national policy and advocacy for the role of pharmacy in pharmacogenomics and later co-led on the development of the HEIW strategic genomics workforce plan for Wales.

In July 2024, Sophie became the All-Wales Consultant Pharmacist for Pharmacogenomics with the aim to support and strategically lead the implementation of pharmacogenomic testing within clinical practice by collaborating and working with clinical teams across Wales and is currently leading on the development of a Pharmacogenomic delivery plan for Wales. Sophie is an active researcher at Swansea University and doctoral level trained.
