Janet Piñero
Janet Piñero is the Co-Founder and Head of Bioinformatics at MedBioinformatics and an Associate Professor at Pompeu Fabra University, where she teaches biomedical data mining and data integration. She earned her PhD in Biomedicine in 2016. Her research focuses on developing computational tools to integrate, explore, and visualize disease genomics data, with interests spanning disease genomics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), precision medicine, and knowledge graphs.
Janet has played a key role in the development of DISGENET, one of the world’s most comprehensive gene–disease association platforms, which has received over 8,000 scientific citations and serves thousands of users monthly. She has also contributed to multiple European-funded research projects.
