Jonathan Johnston

Professor of Chronobiology and Integrative Physiology, University of Surrey

Jon is Professor of Chronobiology and Integrative Physiology at the University of Surrey. He is a world leader in human meal timing (chrono-nutrition) research. He has received substantial research funding for research into human chrono-nutrition and the analysis of circadian rhythms in human metabolic tissues. He has experience working with the food industry and other external partners, via consultancy work (Kellogg; IFF) and research collaboration (Nestlé; British Dietetic Association).

Jon’s research has resulted in multiple studies published in leading journals such as Cell Metabolism, Nature Metabolism, PNAS, Current Biology and eLife. His expertise covers both controlled human laboratory trials and studies of free-living people within their normal daily routines. He has served as a core member of BBSRC Committee A and member of many Society and Journal committees.
