Jordana Bell

Professor of Epigenomics, King's College London

Professor Jordana Bell leads the Epigenomics Research Group within the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology at King's College London. Her research investigates the epigenomic basis of complex diseases, with a particular focus on human ageing, gut microbiome variation and age-related cardiometabolic disease.

Jordana completed her doctoral studies at the University of Oxford, investigating genetic interactions in complex human traits. She subsequently held a Wellcome Trust-funded fellowship at the Universities of Chicago and Oxford, where her research shifted towards human epigenomics.

Since joining King's College London in 2012, she has established a research programme exploring the factors shaping epigenetic variation in human populations and its implications for health and disease. Her work integrates genomic, epigenomic, metabolomic, microbiome and environmental data to better understand disease risk, progression and prediction, with the aim of advancing stratified medicine.

Jordana leads research across several international collaborations, including DIMENSION, ESSN, GoDMC and CHARGE. She also coordinates the DIMENSION consortium, investigating the effects of diet on the epigenome and transcriptome in relation to metabolic health.
