Lina Gerontogianni
Lina is a Senior Statistician / Data Scientist at the Francis Crick Institute, where she has been working for the past five years on statistical modelling of complex biological and clinical datasets. Her work involves a range of data types, including RNA transcriptomics, DNA methylation, metabolomics, and clinical trial data, contributing to both exploratory analyses and formal statistical inference.
She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, with research focused on Bayesian unsupervised methods for DNA methylation data analysis. She also completed an MSc and a BSc in Statistics at the Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece, with training in probability theory, Bayesian modelling, and mathematical statistics.
In addition to her research activities, Lina has taught Statistics in online university programmes in the UK and has provided consultation to clinical fellows as a visiting scientist at the Aristotle University in Greece. Her interests include the application of statistical methodology within bioinformatics and supporting researchers in the correct use and interpretation of statistical models in biological data analysis.
