
Melissa Hill
Dr Melissa Hill is a social scientist embedded in North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Her research is focused on facilitating best practice in the provision of genetic and genomic services in the NHS. Her research has used both qualitative and quantitative approaches to explore the experiences of patients and parents who are offered genetic and genomic tests and to examine the facilitators, barriers and challenges health professionals face when introducing new genomic technologies into their practice.
Research areas include evaluating non-invasive prenatal testing for Down Syndrome and the implementation of rapid exome sequencing tests in the new NHS Genomic Medicine Service during pregnancy and for critically ill babies and children. Her research also includes exploring patient and professional experiences of the100,000 Genomes Project. Dr Hill is currently co-leading the process and impact evaluation of the Generation Study.
