Marco Savarese

Dr. Marco Savarese is a molecular geneticist with over 15 years of experience exploring the genetic and molecular basis of hereditary musculoskeletal disorders. He leads the Myofin research group at Folkhälsan Research Center in Helsinki, where his team bridges fundamental myology with cutting-edge genetic and clinical studies of neuromuscular disease.
A major focus of his recent work is improving the interpretation of titin variants, which remain among the most complex and clinically relevant in medical genetics. In addition to his research, he serves on the ClinGen Variant Curation Expert Panel for Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, helping to shape international standards for variant interpretation and their translation into clinical care.
