Marta Milo
Marta Milo is the Research Data Science Lead for Biostatistics & Combinations in Oncology R&D at AstraZeneca, where she specialises in computational biology and advanced data science to support oncology research and drug development.
With a strong academic foundation, Marta has held research and teaching roles at University of Sheffield — including Lecturer in Computational Biology and Visiting Scientist at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute — focusing on improving sensitivity and accuracy in high-throughput genomic data analysis.
Her research interests span probabilistic models for gene-expression quantification, network inference from gene regulatory data, integrated analysis of next-generation sequencing data, single-cell expression analysis, and the study of splicing dysfunction and mutation effects in embryonic stem cells.
In her current role at AstraZeneca, Marta leads cross-disciplinary efforts to harness computational and statistical methods in oncology, bridging computational biology, biostatistics, and translational research — making her a compelling speaker on topics such as data-driven drug discovery, challenges in computational biology, and the application of big data in cancer research.
