Pontus Skoglund

Senior Group Leader, Francis Crick Institute
Pontus Skoglund is Associate Research Director and Senior Group Leader at the Francis Crick Institute, where he leads the Ancient Genomics laboratory. His research integrates ancient DNA with computational genomics to investigate evolutionary episodes in the human past and their impact on human societies and health. His work explores human population history, ancestry and migration, natural selection and adaptation, as well as interactions between humans and pathogens through time. His research has drawn on large-scale ancient genomic datasets to understand how populations have changed and mixed over time, and how evolutionary pressures have shaped genetic variation relevant to human health.
