Remy Adriaensen

Lead OSR Discovery Breeder Europe, BASF

Remy Adriaensen began his breeding career in 2008 in California’s Salinas Valley, where he worked on lettuce genotyping. He subsequently led vegetable breeding projects in the Netherlands, developing germplasm, novel traits and breeding technologies.

In 2012, he transitioned to oilseed crops in France, focusing on the development of improved germplasm and hybrid varieties. For the past 11 years, he has been part of BASF’s Oilseed Discovery Breeding team in Belgium, driving the development of native traits and innovative breeding technologies. Alongside his industry role, he is a final-year PhD candidate in the Artificial Intelligence Group at Wageningen University.

His research integrates genetics, high-quality phenotypic data, crop modeling, and AI to predict genotype-by-environment interactions, with the goal of accelerating breeding and delivering climate-resilient, high-yielding oilseed rape cultivars.
