Sofia Kudasheva is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Anderson group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, where her research focuses on using single-cell long-read RNA sequencing to study isoform-level regulation in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She completed a BBSRC-funded PhD at the Earlham Institute in Norwich, specialising in long-read transcriptomic profiling of the human brain, and undertook a placement at Oxford Nanopore Technologies during her doctoral training. By resolving isoform usage in the specific cell types that matter for intestinal inflammation, her work aims to identify where isoform-level regulation contributes to disease, distinguishing changes that are consequences of inflammation from those that underlie genetic risk.
