Steven Hardy
Steven Hardy is Assistant Director and Head of Genomics & Rare Disease for the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) within NHS England. He leads national programmes to collect, curate and analyse genomic data across cancer and rare conditions, including the development of the National Inherited Cancer Predisposition Registry (NICPR) – an internationally leading, world-first registry that is shaping preventive care pathways and informing national screening, early detection and cancer prevention strategies.
Steven is a registered Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists.
Working at the interface of genomics, data and public health, Steven focuses on turning national datasets into actionable intelligence that supports earlier diagnosis, risk stratification and targeted prevention. He is passionate about harnessing innovation, reducing unwarranted variation and inequalities and ensuring that advances in genomics translate into meaningful benefits for patients and the wider population.
