Susan Jebb

Professor of Diet and Population Health, University of Oxford
Susan Jebb is Professor of Diet and Population Health at the University of Oxford, and Chair of the Food Standards Agency, a non-Ministerial Government Department. At Oxford, she leads a large research team studying interventions to encourage healthier diets, and runs clinical trials to test the effectiveness of a range of treatments for obesity and their impact on health outcomes. She was science advisor to the influential government Foresight report on obesity in 2007, and has subsequently worked closely with government on food and obesity policy. Her work brings together epidemiology, behavioural science and controlled trials to understand why obesity is increasing, and how changes in public policy can shape the environments in which people live and eat, or the way healthcare is provided, to improve population health.
