Tanya Monaghan

Clinical Associate Professor in Gastroenterology, University of Nottingham
Tanya Monaghan is a Clinical Associate Professor in Gastroenterology at the University of Nottingham and Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist at Nottingham University Hospitals. Her research focuses on the gut microbiome, faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), antimicrobial resistance and the gut-brain axis. She investigates the mechanisms underlying FMT using multi-omics and translational models, with particular interests in immunometabolic and epigenetic pathways. Her work also explores the development of microbiome-based therapeutics, novel antimicrobials and microRNA-based nanotherapies for gut dysbiosis-related disorders. She is Global Health and AMR Strategic Research Area Co-Lead and a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology Gut Microbiota for Health Expert Panel.
