Tanya Monaghan

Clinical Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist, University of Nottingham
Tanya Monaghan is the incoming Professor of Clinical Gastroenterology at the University of East Anglia's Norwich Medical School and the Quadram Institute, taking up the post in March 2027. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham and Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist. Her research spans Clostridioides difficile, faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), antimicrobial resistance and the gut-brain axis. Using multi-omics and translational models, she investigates FMT mechanisms and develops microbiome-based therapeutics and microRNA-based nanotherapies for dysbiosis-related disorders. She is C. difficile and Next-Generation Therapeutics Theme Lead for the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre and a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology Gut Microbiota for Health Expert Panel.
