Wout Bittremieux

Prof. Dr. Wout Bittremieux is an internationally recognized expert at the intersection of artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and mass spectrometry. His research focuses on developing advanced algorithms and machine learning methods to analyze mass spectrometry data, driving new biological insights from large-scale proteomics and metabolomics experiments. 

He has received numerous international awards for his scientific contributions, including distinctions from the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, the Human Proteome Organization, and the European Proteomics Association, among others. In parallel, he plays a key leadership role in shaping the future of computational mass spectrometry—helping define global data standards through the Proteomics Standards Initiative, and serving in leading roles within the CompMS interest group of the International Society for Computational Biology, the European Bioinformatics Community for Mass Spectrometry, and the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. 

Through this combination of technical innovation and community leadership, his work continues to push the boundaries of AI-driven omics research worldwide.
