A bigger, broader and more practical look at where omics is going next.

Genomics is no longer developing in isolation. It is increasingly connected to AI, diagnostics, data science, drug development, agriculture, healthcare and public policy — creating new opportunities, but also new questions about how these technologies are developed and put into practice.

The 2027 Festival of Genomics and Biodata has evolved to reflect this changing landscape.

We’re bringing more of the emerging science into the programme, creating more opportunities to get hands-on with new technologies, and bringing together communities that don’t always share the same stage.

Expect new theatres, practical workshops and more focused opportunities to connect and collaborate.

Whether you’re returning to the Festival or joining us for the first time, 2027 is designed to help you make better progress in your work with deeper discussions, practical insights, new perspectives and more opportunities to connect with the people tackling the challenges shaping genomics and biodata.

AI Enabled Diagnostics

Ai Enabled Diagnostics

Discover how genomics is helping build the crops of the future.

For the first time ever, The Festival will bring plant genomics into the spotlight with a dedicated theatre exploring how genomic technologies are being used to improve crops, increase resilience and respond to global challenges including climate change and food security.

The agenda will explore pangenomes, genetic variation, trait discovery, regulatory networks and genomic-assisted breeding, bringing together researchers, technology providers and seed companies working at the forefront of the field.

This is your chance to go beyond the science to understand how plant genomics is being translated into crop breeding programmes - and what that means for the future of food, health and sustainability.

See how AI is moving from promise to practice in diagnostics.

AI is opening up new possibilities across genomics, pathology and medical imaging. Our new AI-Enabled Diagnostics theatre explores what is actually being developed, validated and deployed - and what it will take to make these technologies work in clinical practice.

Three key areas take centre stage:

  • Genomics & variant interpretation
  • Pathology & medical imaging
  • Multimodal analysis, combining different types of clinical and biological data

Themed Networking

Networking

Don’t just hear about new tools and techniques. Try them.

From technical skills to emerging technologies, these sessions are built around doing, experimenting and learning, rather than simply listening. Get hands-on with topics including:

  • AI-powered data visualisation
  • A career taster in clinical genomics for students and early-career attendees
  • Variant interpretation, including live classification and evidence calibration
  • Building agentic AI tools
  • Single-cell foundation models
  • Multi-omics data integration
  • Science-inspired art and communication

Find your tribe faster.

In 2027, we’re creating more opportunities for you to connect around shared interests, career stages and areas of expertise, rather than leaving networking to chance.

Our themed networking sessions will bring you together with peers, speakers and industry partners - making it easier to find the conversations and connections that matter to you.

Whether you’re looking for a research collaborator, a technology partner, or simply people working on the same problems, there’ll be more ways to find like minded individuals at the Festival.
